Networking – Visibility vs. The Relationship

Ultimately it is the in-depth relationships that we build that profit us the most. We have all been to a networking meeting and there is “that guy”, standing at the door, handing out brochures or business cards to everyone who passes by. He is so busy getting his name out there that nobody remembers it, or what he does. It is like the guy in the bar that walks up to every woman and asks…strike that, forget about it, but you see the point.

Developing credibility with real business partners takes time and effort and if you are always looking for the next contact, you will never develop that true in-depth relationship necessary for your partners to trust you. So take some time, source out the networking groups best suited to you and attend regularly. Make a list of 3 people you want to talk to and focus on that.
